The next few days are a blur. Many feedings and weigh-ins, cleaning and more the days all began to string together into one chaotic but fantastic haze, Moxxi hadn't quiet gotten the hang of being a full time Mommy and was still a bit frightened when all 7 puppies got into her space all at once.
She had a tendency to lay down just long enough for the majority of the puppies to start to latch, but then gets overwhelmed and stands up again starting the whole process over.
Ryan & I took turns laying with her until each pup was latched and feeding, keeping her calm and encouraging her the best we could. Supplementing with formula in those early days was key since her milk wasn't fully in yet, and it seemed to calm her down more when we would take one or two for a bit to lighten the load on her. A sentiment I can totally understand!
Sebbie was never too far away from the cage, though we could tell he was trying to not add to Moxxi's anxiety.
Even the kiddos helped out whenever they could.
We may have been exhausted, but we made sure Moxxi knew she was not in this alone!
After about a week Moxxi's instincts kicked in and she was a super-mommy-puppy-feeding-machine!
